Overall Rating: LOVED it! ♥️
We all know that Lauren Weisberger’s The Devil Wears Prada is perfection turned cult classic movie. (Which, despite being 12-years old, I STILL can’t watch without having to pay $8.99 first!) So, When Life Gives You Lululemons was announced, it’s no surprise that it immediately jumped to the top of fans TBR list.
Emily has built herself a reputation for fierceness. The type of women you want on your team and never against you. Of course, what else would you expect from the woman who was Miranda Priestly’s right hand? Now, Emily’s status and influence have landed her as a top celebrity image consultant.
When her work takes her back to New York, a series of events lands her in the least likely of places, Greenwich, Connecticut. The Suburbs. Though her pretentiousness leaves her feeling disgusted and asking herself what she’s come to, things start to get exciting when a high-profile ex-model, and senator’s wife, is framed for a DUI with four children in the car
Weisburger has a talent for making her character’s feel real through conveying every dimension of their personalities. You’ll find yourself forming a soft spot – a very small soft spot – for the ones you’re meant to hate while feeling empowered by all the boss-bitch, girl-power that fuels this novel.
When Life Gives You Lululemons has a movie-esq quality to it that makes it a light but engaging read, with a steady pace. I read it over the course of a few days, though it could be devoured easily in one or two sittings. While it is a spin-off, it can hold its own as a standalone book. Its the perfect summer-read for anyone who’s a fan of chick-lit and/or The Devil Wears Prada.
What’s on your must-read list for this summer?
