Overall Rating: LIKED it!🌟
The Oracle Year is the debut novel for bestselling comic-book writer, Charles Soule. Soule is best known for his work on Death of Wolverine, Daredevil, and various Marvel Comics. His talent for writing comics was evident throughout this novel and the quality of the writing made me feel like I was watching a movie in my mind.
The Oracle Year follows Will Dando, a musician living in New York City. One morning Will wakes up from a dream with 108 predictions about the future. Not knowing what to do with this information, he creates a website where he slowly begins releasing predictions to the public. Before he knows it, he has power and fame that he never asked for: companies are offering millions of dollars for a few minuets of his time, the public bombards him with letters looking for answers to their questions – but – not everyone has a positive fascination with him. Becoming the most powerful man in the world overnight doesn’t come without making a few high-powered enemies; including the President of the United States.
If you’re a fan of graphic novels and the Marvel movie franchise, you’re going to want to pick up this book. The story engages you right from the beginning and remains complex and exciting to the very last page. It’s movie-esque quality makes it an easy and enjoyable read that you will not be disappointed in. I look forward to Soule writing more novels in the future.
